What a great post and how truthful. At some point, I got sick and tired of facebook and had to take a step back to revaluate how I wanted to use it in my personal life and in business. One of the changes I made was "de-friending" all my faceless friends. A while ago, I wrote a blog post about the important of having a picture for self branding. I hope this catches on.

Thanks for sharing.

[...] Tatyana Gann came up with a title that I just find funny. The article is pretty good too. Enjoy! Who took the “Face” out of Facebook?. [...]

An interesting thought to ponder...

Wonderful praise for a well written article about no faces by people with no faces. Hmmmmm

Anyway, thank you Tatyanna for a well written & insightful article. Maybe some of those who responded so enthusiastically will snap a quick pic with their webcams & upload them until they can get "good" pic of themselves.

Oh well, yet another rant over.

Bless~ed Be & Regards,
Elizabeth

Smile they'll wonder what you're up to.

Hi Tatyana,

This is a great post that all Faceless people on Facebook must read. How can anyone think they can brand themselves with a profile picture of one of their products or even Mickey Mouse ( I have had a request from Mickey himself!)Look forward to reading more of your posts.

I agree! It's more true then people realize that you only get one chance to make a first impression. If you don't take your image serious what will make other people think that you take your business serious. We'll spend hours doing menial work on social media sites that can equate to hundreds of dollars...wasted dollars...and yet we won't spend $60 on getting a decent head shot. Makes no sense.

Melody

Having logo for business that you are already known for is a great way but what I learned from the best PR experts that people prefer to connect with people first... Building relationships will help you to establish brand and when you feel you got the right foundation you will use logo.. again for example restaurants h ave their logos and it is great but they still put photos of owners, chefs and so on to make it real

I have "friends" that have high school pics up and it drives me crazy! There is no doubt I know who they are by their high school pic, but it would be nice to see their beautiful faces as they are right now.

I use my logo on my organizing business page, but I think I may change it...just because, they may want to see my face.

Thanks for sharing!

Hi Tatyana,

Great article, enjoyed the read. I couldn't agree more.
The world is certainly a scary place for many people these days and I guess many feel more secure by not "showing their true face"

Sadly, that only reinforces negative feelings and emotions. If you are in business on the Internet, it is all about "know, like and trust" and the only way to really get to "know, like and trust" someone is if they put their "best face forward"

Thanks for sharing..

That is really true. How can we reconnect with people if they don't have a face? Took me a long time to find a friend who had a very common name but no face. He finally put his face on and I was able to connect with him.

A good and timely article. Facebook has become so common now and extremely useful. I love some of the relationships I have formed as a result of this medium. That being said, it is a platform that is often abused. This article has helped me to remember "focus" above numbers. I love new connections with real people. Thanks, Tatyana!
